To The Assistant Superintendent:
My name is Bryan Vice, Superintendent at Juniper Hill Golf Course in Frankfort, KY and Assistant Superintendent Director of the Bluegrass Golf Course Superintendent Association. I am very excited about getting you, the assistant superintendents, more involved in our association this year. This year will prove we can get the assistants more involved that want to do more with their position, make more of their career, and start taking the necessary steps to be more prepared for the next position.
This leads me to the reason of this letter. I hope all of you can be more involved this year. There are a lot of issues concerning assistants and advantages that you may not know about that you can obtain by getting involved in your local chapter You can do this by sending me your information (name, address, course, etc.) via email at bryan_vice@hotmail.com or by sign up sheets at the chapter meetings this year. I will also have postings on our website, www.bgcsa.net. I hope that this year will be a success, as it has been with other chapters within the GCSAA.
With being involved in your local chapter, you will be able to network more with other assistants, superintendents, and vendors, help with chapter meetings at your course, write articles for the Blade, etc. The GCSAA has put a lot of effort into doing more for the assistants in the past few years, even having an Assistant Committee.
I understand that you work very long hours and have a great responsibility to the course, as I have been there myself. I wanted more in that position but was unable to do so or know how to until this past year. Please keep in mind that being involved will not take away from your job or the course itself, it will only help you. I can only ask that you consider being more active within your local and state chapters, as networking is very important in this industry.
